Maine Balkan Choir Rehearsal in Belfast

At The Underground Cafe, 17 Court street, Belfast Maine. The Maine Balkan Choir (MBC) is recruiting new members in the Belfast area. MBC is working on a program of Ukrainian folk music. We plan to perform a benefit concert in spring, proceeds will go to a Ukraine children’s charity. The Choir is directed by Anne Tatgenhorst of Winterport who has studied and performed this genre since 1998. You do not need prior choral experience to join. The music will be sung in Ukrainian language; we use a system of transliterating the lyrics from Cyrillic into the English alphabet and we will help with pronunciation. The tunes are often in minor keys with plaintive melodies. (lots of love songs). Both men and women are welcome. Please share this info with any singers you know.
