Downeast Friends of the Folk Arts
Music and Dance for the Maine community
On Saturday, July 15th from 7 to 10pm the Cherryfield Academy is delighted to welcome the trio Springtide with caller Chris Ricciotti to play for our 3rd Saturday Contra Dance! Springtide consists of Willy Clemetson on fiddle and rhythmic fancy footwork, Elsie Gawler on cello, fiddle and banjo, and Ethan Tischler on guitar and fiddle! These four talents personify the Golden Age of Contra Culture in the Midcoast, born again out of Covid, rebuilding and spreading fast, and we are so lucky to have them in Cherryfield. Don’t miss the opportunity to see them play and feel the energy! Everyone is welcome! All ages! All abilities! All dances will be taught by Chris, with many helpful fellow dancers! Spectating is encouraged for those who can’t dance but love live music, or who are just curious about the whole hullabaloo:-) Contra Dances build community in the funnest possible way:-)
There will be a refreshment table on hand and a non-alcoholic hydration station. You are welcome and encouraged to bring food or drink to the hall, either for yourself or to share. The Cherryfield Academy’s venerable and beautiful dance hall is located at 53 Main Street just a couple of hundred yards north of Route 1 on Route 193. There is a Suggested Donation of 10 dollars for adults. Children are less. But anything more that you can afford is deeply appreciated! The proceeds allow us to pay for use of the hall and to bring in the great performers who make these monthly events possible.
Hope to see you in Cherryfield!
