DownEast Country Dance Festival Remains on Hiatus

Regretfully, there will not be a DownEast Country Dance Festival in 2023, as COVID transmission is still active in New England with new variants of concern present in our communities. DEFFA hopes to host our 30th in-person festival in March of 2024.

Several regional festivals are scheduled to be held in 2023 with significant COVID precautions, specifically NEFFA & the Dance Flurry  Both events will require proof of current COVID vaccine for entry. The Flurry will also require a same day negative COVID test  and suggests masking; NEFFA will require all participants to wear a fully protective mask (N-95 type, not just a surgical mask).

We all miss dancing, singing, and playing music together. However, we feel that for the DownEast Country Dance Festival, waiting another year is appropriate. Dances and other traditional music events are gradually resuming in Maine. Please refer to the DEFFA calendar for more information.
