Allison and Hunt Smith are making a pilgrimage to Cherryfield, Maine on Saturday, October 21st
Allison and Hunt Smith are making a pilgrimage to Cherryfield, Maine! They are returning to the Down East Contra Dance that they helped create 5 years ago. And they are bringing with them Some Reel People! Some Reel People is a joyous and ever-evolving traditional country dance band from the Dexter, Maine area, playing jigs, reels, waltzes and polkas. Their combined sound of fiddles, guitars, mandolin, banjo, bass, cello, accordion, and recorder will make you want to dance! They are the house band for the Central Hall Commons Contradances in Dover-Foxcroft, and play other dances and concerts at various venues around the region. The Dance they are playing for Cherryfield takes place at the Cherryfield Academy Community Center on Saturday, October 21st from 7 to 10pm! Allison will be calling!
Everyone is welcome, all ages and abilities! All dances are taught, with many helpful fellow dancers! Spectating is encouraged for those who can’t dance and those who just love live music, or who are curious about the whole hullabaloo:-) No pressure! There will be a refreshment table on hand and a “hydration station”. You are welcome and encouraged to bring food and non-alcoholicj drink to the hall, either for yourself or to share. The Cherryfield Academy is located at 53 Main Street just a couple of hundred yards north of Route 1 on Route 193. There is a Suggested Donation of 10 dollars for adults. Children are less. But anything more that you can afford is deeply appreciated! The proceeds allow us to pay for use of the hall and to bring in the great performers who make these monthly events possible. For more information call 546-2998 or email [email protected] Hope to see you in Cherryfield!
